Mr. Conner The authentic character of the album cannot be overstated. The soundscape is built from old school synth sounds, nightmarish melodies, bruising bass lines, relentless beats, and brain battering percussion, all surrounded by textures that are sticky and elastic. Favorite track: godslammer.

Alpha Chrome Yayo I love an album I can *SMELL*

While the fictitious club that Bleeding Edge of Night takes place in might not be tangible, the senses it fires up are all too physical and real.

Hot leather, dry ice, actual-not-LED-neon crackling, queuing in rain-slick streets and dangerous alleyways...

This is a POWERFUL release from an expert musician sculpting cool places from real memory. And, it absolutely goddamn SLAYS.

Turn it up, dance the night away, try to stay alive. Favorite track: my demons wear labcoats.

MilesMatrix Nice and dark debut from Night Razor. Close your eyes and try not to see it as the soundtrack to a 90s movie like Blade or Hackers. Great stuff. Favorite track: my demons wear labcoats.

If this guy decides to perform live, GO SEE HIM, trust me. Commanding presence, you'll have an amazing time! Favorite track: my demons wear labcoats.

FoxPuppy A dark and fun mixture of influences from the late 80s and early 90s combining elements of goth, industrial, dance, pop, and synthwave into a fun album. Catchy melodies and powerful beats.

about

Bleeding Edge of Night

in the current revival of 80s sounds and visual aesthetics, it often seems to me that the “dance” aspect gets overlooked. Most of what I notice focuses on recapturing the soundtrack vibe or the physical associations-and it’s brilliant! But it’s not what I remember. I remember dancing. Sneaking into places we were too young to be as a group of friends so pretty that no one questioned us and moving like engines of grace until the last call. Sticking our heads down into a giant sub and letting it drive the rest of our bodies like windsocks, hearing damage warnings be damned!

The idea of this album is to pay tribute to my memories, the sounds and the DJs of the late 80's era of underground dance music in my way. If an album should have a unifying idea (and I go back and forth on that matter) that’s what the idea here is. What you have in this weird little digital package is 8 songs that I wish I could have made back then for those clubs. Songs that sound somewhat-then nothing-alike, yet belong together because the curator (in this case, the programmer, standing in for the DJ) felt like the night called for them-but the night is now an aggregate night representing and romanticizing a time and an energy which are now only memories (or impressions of memories) of the places I went and the people in them.

So "The Bleeding Edge of Night" to me is a neverwas dance club located in a Brigadoon city somewhere in the area bounded by Chicago in the east, Minneapolis in the north, Omaha to the west and St. Louis and Kansas City to the south. It would have been of course assumed to play the international dance hits of the day, but would have put a huge emphasis on the Chicago sound defined by Wax Trax and the proto-techno artists of that scene.

This is the first full length album by NightRazor, a midwest retrowave recording artist that focuses on using modern analog and vintage hardware for the generation of contemporary electronica that calls back to the great sounds of the original era of electronic breakthrough hits.
